Car Shows:
Collectors and enthusiasts gather regularly at the Carlisle Fairgrounds for a variety of car shows in our area. The schedule includes four automotive flea markets of varying size, five collector car auctions, as well as individual specialty shows featuring Corvettes, Fords, GMs, Chryslers, trucks, imports, tuners and performance sport compacts. History:
Explore this area's rich history. From Gettysburg Civil War battlefield tours, to American Revelotion heroine Molly Pitcher memorials, Underground Railroad stops, Industrial history and so much more.
Fly fishing:
Check out some of the fly fishing access as close as the Mountain Creek, right outside our door. There are also some other great areas like The Yellow Breeches in Boiling Springs and Letort Springs Run in Carlisle. Lots of other tributaries in this area have great fishing opportunities, you just have to get out and explore.
Appalachian Trail:
The Appalachian Trail in PA passes through 229.2 miles and ranges from elevations of 320′-2080′ . Some of the more gentle terrian goes through the state and there are several sections of the trail that make a great day hike. The AT's Museum is located in Pine Grove State Park and the Mid-Atlantic office is in nearby Boiling Springs. This section of the trail passes along rocky precipases, agricultural fields, rivers, lakes, and small, quaint towns.
Mid-Atlantic: Backcountry Discovery Routes:
The Backcountry Discovery Routes are dual sport and adventure motorcycle travel trails that span across the country. The Mid-Atlantic section runs from Damascus, Virginia north to Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. The 5th section begins in Shepherdstown, WV and gives time along the route to visit Harpers Ferry. The town is a noteable Civil War history stop because of it's geographical strategic location where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers confluence and now is a quaint town with artisanal crafts, coffee shops and restaurants. The trail heads north through Amish country and meanders through lush farm land, continues through the Micheaux State Forest and culminates in Mount Holly Springs where you can stay for the night at historical Mountain Creek Tavern.
Pine Grove Furnace State Park:
15 minutes down the road from out location is Pine Grove State Park. There are a multitude of activities to explore in this area including hiking, swimming, beach access, boating, The Appalachian Trail, picnicing, camping, historic walking tours, The Ironmaster's Mansion tour and The Appalachian Trail Museum. Fuller Lake and Laurel Lake are both located in the park are beautiful year round and offer beaches with lifeguards on duty during the summer. Pole's Steeple is a breath taking overlook you can hike to in the park via a 1.2 mile out-and-back trail.
